In 2001, Yamamay was founded in Italy. It mainly focuses on women's high-end fashion underwear. Now it includes several series, including men's underwear, swimwear and sportswear. Yamamay's name originated from the fact that the company's underwear used wild Yamamay silkworms found in the inland highlands of Japan, and lived only on oak or on broken branches near the water.

As early as the 16th century, the quality of the silk produced was recognized. The larval period was longer, ranging from 50 to 80 days. The resulting pupa had a silvery appearance and a crystal-like luster. After becoming a moth, it became very beautiful, green and soft torso, with a gorgeous shiny purple.
