Today, we’re back with another installment of our “How I Wear It†series. We’re absolutely loving how Stitcher Ali has styled her Santa Rosa Top! This top is just perfect for summertime. Over to you, Ali!

As soon as I laid eyes on the Santa Rosa top/dress pattern, I was immediately drawn to it—especially the top view. It looked both fashionable and effortless to wear. I knew right away that this would be something I’d reach for repeatedly. With that in mind, I wanted to pick a fabric that had a casual vibe while fitting seamlessly into my everyday wardrobe. Additionally, I needed something light and breezy to get me through the upcoming hot and humid Kentucky summer. During a recent trip to New York City, I found this incredibly lightweight cotton voile fabric at Mood Fabrics, and I instantly knew it would make an exquisite Santa Rosa top.

To be honest, before diving into this project, I wasn’t entirely confident in my skills to tackle this pattern successfully. I began sewing my own clothes last August when I joined my first class with Lyndsey at Made Stitch Co. Since then, I’ve made several garments, but I still questioned whether I could execute this pattern well enough to feel proud wearing it. After all, I’m still relatively new to sewing. Fortunately, the instructions were incredibly clear, allowing me to complete most of the construction smoothly. However, when I reached the collar section, I hit a snag. I sought help from Lyndsey, who patiently guided me through the tricky step. Thanks to her expertise, my collar turned out beautifully.

I paired my Santa Rosa top with black skinny jeans and a pair of simple canvas sneakers. The contrast of the dark jeans really highlights the top’s vibrant colors! This summer, I plan to pair it with shorts or perhaps even a pencil skirt—if I manage to squeeze that project into my ever-expanding sewing to-do list.

That’s all for today’s post. Stay tuned for more creative projects and styling tips from our talented Stitchers. Until next time, happy sewing!
