Xi'an Engineering University Undergraduate graduation Show, staged college version of "Wei Mi Xiu"

On June 5, 2018, the finals of the 2018 Undergraduate Graduation Design Contest of Xi'an Polytechnic University School of Apparel and Art Design was grandly held at Xi'an Jinjiang International Hotel.

Xi'an Polytechnic University is the only university in western China that features textiles and clothing. It is affectionately called the "Old Spinning Yard" in the old Xi'an population. This underwear design competition is only one of the 3rd "Silk Road Fashion and Technology" Cultural Week activities organized by the College of Fashion and Art Design of Xi'an Polytechnic University. A special event that has a certain influence in society, industry institutions, and enterprises.

The theme of the third “Culture Road, Fashion, Science and Technology” cultural week was “unbounded”. Emphasizing that art is unbounded and paying attention to the blending of art and science and technology, the artist has a natural and creative mind, and he has explored the mission of fashion culture with the ideas of innovation, interconnection, interaction and regeneration.

According to relevant teachers, the underwear graduation design exhibition is based on the theme of “inner and derivative” and explains the evolution and changes of underwear. It is not only an inward derivative, it extends in the direction of the heart to discover a different self; it is also an outward derivative, which is derived from traditional underwear and explores more possibilities. The design incorporates Eastern and Western cultures and colors, breaking the original underwear structure, reorganizing the segmentation, using exquisite and special craftsmanship, and striving to create a feast of underwear with fusion and innovation.

Xi'an Polytechnic University is the earliest institution of higher learning in China that has established a clothing specialty. The School of Clothing and Art Design is one of the earliest professional colleges established by Xi'an Polytechnic University. It was once rated as one of China's top ten famous fashion institutes. The institute formed a “leading by clothing, with art design as the backbone, arts, engineering, and culture. The characteristics of running a school with coordinated development of multiple disciplines, and a thick foundation, heavy practice, innovation and arts and crafts have become a shining pearl in the clothing education in the western region.

In order to adapt to the development of society, the needs of the market, optimize the professional structure, further develop the underwear industry in China and cultivate more talents in underwear, from 2008 began to add underwear professional direction, established and opened the first underwear class in Chinese universities. In 2011, the underwear department was formally established; in 2012, it was successfully awarded the second class “Underwear Ergonomics”, which achieved the education of higher underwear professionals in mainland China from scratch. In the development process, it has received support from many underwear companies.

After years of exploration and development, we have gradually explored a set of underwear orientation training models that suit China's national conditions, filling the gaps in teaching and research in the Chinese mainland. The undergraduate students currently training in the college are widely welcomed by underwear companies, and the supply of graduates is in short supply.
