About 1500 years ago, a woman named Fa Rong, the wife of a Chinese local official, was buried after her death. Her widow is still surrounded by exquisite jewels and is now unearthed in a cemetery in Datong.
These ancient jewels include a necklace of 5,000 beads and delicate gold earrings, archaeologists say. In 2011, this tomb was discovered in Datong City, dating back to 1500 years ago. After several decades, the Northern Wei Dynasty collapsed in 534 AD.
“The bones lie on a green-yellow pillow with two rope-patterned bricks,†an archaeologist from the Datong Archaeological Research Institute wrote in the journal Chinese Cultural Relics. The researchers came here to investigate before an infrastructure project was built, and discovered the tomb.
