According to the most recent data released by the Statistical Center of the China Textile Industry Association, the output of fabric from enterprises above the designated size in April 2010 reached 5,297.20 million meters, marking a 6% increase compared to the previous month. From January to April 2010, the cumulative output of such enterprises totaled 18,527,780,000 meters, reflecting a year-on-year growth of 17.71%.
Within this period, cotton fabric production in April stood at 3,103,720,000 meters, representing a modest 4% rise from March’s 2,971,390,000 meters. The total output of cotton fabric for the first four months of the year reached 10,971,460,000 meters, growing by 20.48% compared to the same period in 2009.
Due to rising costs of raw materials like cotton, many downstream textile companies have shifted their focus toward polyester-cotton blended yarns and pure polyester yarns. This shift has contributed to steady growth in the production of both cotton-blended fabrics and chemical fiber fabrics during the first four months of 2010, with increases of 20.48% and 15.28%, respectively.
Regionally, Shandong, Jiangsu, Hebei, Henan, Hubei, and Zhejiang were the top producers of cotton fabric in April 2010. These six provinces accounted for about 80% of the national output from January to April. Among them, Hebei saw the most significant year-on-year growth at 59.37%, while Shandong, Henan, and Zhejiang also maintained double-digit growth. In contrast, Jiangsu experienced only a modest increase of 8.42%.
Sichuan and Jiangxi provinces recorded particularly strong growth in cotton fabric output, with year-on-year increases of 79.56% and 63.33%, respectively. Other central and western regions, including Anhui, Chongqing, and Hunan, also showed substantial gains.
The data highlights the dynamic nature of China's textile industry, with varying regional performances driven by factors such as input costs, demand fluctuations, and shifting production strategies. Overall, the sector continues to demonstrate resilience and adaptability in response to market conditions.
Carbon fiber fabric
Carbon fiber fabric is a type of textile material that is made from carbon fibers. It is known for its high strength-to-weight ratio, making it incredibly lightweight yet strong. The fabric is woven from carbon fibers, which are thin strands of carbon atoms that are highly durable and stiff.
